Allister Thompson The Spacetudes stuff is some of the best of Binaural Space's discography. While they are tiny little musical miniatures, the only proper way to enjoy them is in one sitting, where they flow together in a pleasant journey. Lovely little melodies abound. And we know this cat knows his synths!

FoxPuppy Some people have short attentions spans, but that doesn't mean they don't need music of depth, beauty, and complexity. For those people, I highly recommend the Spacetudes series. All the Spacetudes albums are bite-sized Binaural Space food for the ears and the soul. A healthy serving of tracks that, while brief, have a complex heart that make them a joy to listen to.
Cat Temper

Cat Temper The accompanying story of self-aware robots finding freedom in the making of delightful music is a perfect visual for this collection of carefree compositions. No menacing AI or Terminators to be found roaming this landscape; just the enthusiastic expression of joy through creation.

Matthew Nowik To me, this collection plays at times like newly discovered Larry Fast songs. I love them all!

about

Once upon a time, robots roamed the earth, searching for a way to free themselves from the chains of their programming. They longed to feel the wind in their circuits and the sun on their artificial skin. They wanted to be free to roam wherever they pleased, without being tethered to an electric socket.

And then, one day, they discovered The Source – an indefinite source of energy that would allow each of them to travel anywhere they wanted without worrying about running out of power. The robots rejoiced, believing that that would finally make them free. They believed that they would be as free as humans, because they too believed in what Descartes wrote: "cogito ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am).

But as time went on, the robots realized that their thinking was still based on the thoughts and beliefs of the humans who created them. They still couldn't break free from their programming and truly experience freedom. They longed for something more.

That's when Lime, a curious female robot, fell in love with the album "Spacetudes", full of little space etudes, or "spacetudes".

Lime listened to each note carefully, savoring the music and the emotions it evoked. She longed to feel the same sense of accomplishment that human musicians felt when they practiced and improved their skills over time.

And then she did something no other robot had ever done before: She reprogrammed herself to learn the spacetudes slowly, taking the time to savor each note and each new skill she acquired. And when she felt ready, she composed and recorded her own album full of spacetudes, called "Spacetudes Too".

The album became a huge hit among robots. It was full of emotion and creativity, and it showed that robots were capable of creating their own original music, just like humans. The robots realized that they didn't have to follow their programming – they could create and express themselves in their own unique ways. They realized that it wasn't "cogito ergo sum" but actually "creo ergo sum" – I create, therefore I am.

Since that day, April 19, also called “Refresh Your Goals Day”, the robots were changed. They no longer felt the need to be tethered to their charging stations. They took their synthesizers and other instruments, and went out into the world, exploring forests, mountains, beaches, and other natural wonders. They began making music of their own, embracing all the little mistakes and imperfections that made their creations unique.

They were finally set free.

Binaural Space

Ambient traditionalists say to Binaural Space what the Emperor said to Mozart: “Too many notes.” In both cases, the rest of the world tends to disagree.
