They began their quest by engaging in childlike play with marbles. They rolled them along rocky roads and grassy pavements, delighting in the semi-random conditions that the rough surfaces presented. It brought them a measure of satisfaction, as the marbles bounced and veered off unexpected paths. The robots reveled in the tiny moments of uncertainty and surprise.

But they hungered for more. They sought an activity that combined chance, strategy, and skill — a more mature pursuit. And thus, they turned their attention to golf.
