FoxPuppy So beautiful that I began wondering if I should buy some better headphones specifically for listening to music like this.

Allister Thompson One of the most beautiful tracks of Jan’s career so far, epic in scope but quietly uplifting too. Hammock, eat your heart out! Favorite track: Bright Side of the Future.

LovelyJoan The first listen was on a long car trip and while I love all Binaural Space music, this was the first instance of being able to imagine lyrics to the quiet chaos. There are words underneath the melody and I wish I could draw them out. Favorite track: Bright Side of the Future.

about

It's that time of the year when my wife and kids are on vacation and I'm spending the week on my own. The first time I started this practice was three years ago. I spent my solo week at my parents' cottage back then and recorded my third album, Ultimate Answer, there.

This time it's different. I'm staying hours away in the mountains and although it's summer and a sunny weather outside, I've been spending most of my time inside. One reason of that is that I've been recording my new album. Another reason is that I have Lyme disease with prescribed three weeks of antibiotics and no sun (also no alcohol nor dairy products, which is not such a big deal for me).

The borreliosis has been a culmination (I mean I hope so!) of my weakened health of the past two years (almost exactly: in a week it will be the 2nd anniversary of my scooter accident). I've been trying hard to focus on work rather than my spine and shoulder pain but still, at times when my mind isn't occupied, my thoughts resort to self-pity. Which is dumb, considering what's going on in the world close to this small country.

But!

For the past few days, partly because of focusing on music, partly because of having been alone, and partly, I believe, because I've been, so to speak, far from the maddening crowd, I've felt more optimistic than before. And I had a little unsophisticated revelation when – well, sometimes it works this way – I made myself an unplanned, unexpected but delicious avocado toast (hence the authentic "artwork") with a poached egg and enjoyed it, enjoyed living in that wonderful moment, very much:

I believe most of our problems will get solved somehow in the future. The time will either heal all the wounds, bring new solutions or erase all the suffering (however big or small) eventually. Which sounds more fatalistic then I intended to. What I mean is that I believe in the future. In the bright side of it. And I'm looking forward to what it will bring to us.

I don't know whether this all makes any sense to you. It does to me, though, and my new track is about that hope or, rather, belief. "Bright Side of the Future" doesn't fit the rest of the new album I've been working on here, at least not in its current form, and because we haven't released anything new this month (although I hope those of you who attended my live stream were pleased sufficiently ;-)), it's about time to present you, my fans, with some new music.

So here it is and I hope you'll like it.

Thank you very much for your ongoing support, you guys and your attention to independent artists means the world to me and I wish you a wonderful weekend and a fantastic start of August right after it.

Binaural Space

Ambient traditionalists say to Binaural Space what the Emperor said to Mozart: “Too many notes.” In both cases, the rest of the world tends to disagree.
