It’s almost like a lost library music album of the time. Secondly, due to lack of brainpower over the last few weeks I had forgotten to listen to it on day of release, which I’m very grumpy about. Don’t make the same mistake as I. Buy it now!!! Favorite track: They Recite Hody Hody Doprovody.

A week before Easter Tipentap learned from Uncle Fido about their Aunt Dido and her way of celebrating Easter. She lived in a small village in Moravia and she celebrated Easter in a traditional way. They were excited to experience it themselves.

Because they had the Easter break coming, they packed their bags and they set out on a long journey to Moravia. They met friendly people in the train who, among other things, told them about the significance of Good Friday.

Tip and Tap were surprised, if not shocked, to learn about it and they wondered why such a sad day was called Good.

As they reached their Aunt Dido's home, they were warmly welcomed and quickly immersed in the preparations for Easter. Aunt Dido showed them how to braid “pomlázka”, a special whip made of willow branches, which is used to gently whip girls and women on Easter Monday to bring health, beauty and happiness.

Tip and Tap were both frightened and fascinated by the tradition and wanted to learn more about it. On White Saturday they witnessed the traditional Easter procession and were amazed by the beauty of the Easter decorations.

Finally, Easter arrived, and Tip and Tap were thrilled to be part of the celebrations. They joined other children in the village in going carol-singing from house to house, singing traditional Easter songs and receiving delicious treats in return.

Tipentap loved the delicious food and receiving Easter eggs, a symbol of new life and fertility. And the feared Easter Monday whipping was a big relief – it was very gentle and symbolic, women insisted on the tradition while laughing and girls not only enjoyed it but switched the roles with the boys later, so everyone had fun.

As the day came to a close, Tipentap realized that they had learned so much about Easter and the traditions of Moravia. They were happy to have been a part of such a special celebration, they knew that they would never forget this experience and they decided to share it with friends who didn't know these strange but lovely traditions.
