about

- Hey [Sokoban]! What about the blurb?
- Hey [Binaural Space]. The blurb?
- Yeah, the liner notes. Release notes.
- What about it?
- You promised to send it to me two days ago.
- Did I?
- Yes, you did.
- Sorry, mate, I forgot to.
- No prob mate, it’s just that we wanted to pre-release it on Friday.
- Oh…
- Yep. So have you written anything?
- Not yet… Couldn’t you write something?
- I wanted you to write it, in your own words, because I loved how you described its genesis.
- Genesis… Man… Do there even have to be release notes?
- We have them for every release, I like them, and our fans do, too.
- But it’s all in the name.
- What is?
- Well, in the title, you know, "Good Mood Loop", there’s everything in it, isn’t it?
- No, it’s not, man! I’d like you to tell the fans about the idea, its reasons, and execution.
- But you remember what I told you about it, so you can write it in your own words.
- Man, I don’t remember pub talk.
- Because, as [your wife] says, "you never listen to me".
- [My wife] never says that. Because I do listen to her.
- Yeah, like to her most repeated instruction whenever I'm at your place.
- And what would that one be?
- "Turn the volume down, please."
- Hahaha, you're such an a-hole. Anyway, as I said, I don't remember pub talk.
- You do, that’s why you want me to repeat it.
- I remember just the idea of it, not the details.
- Neither do I. I just liked what Hopkirk did with the Uncle Fido stuff. And I love the Uncle Fido shit in general. Just write that it’s “music inspired by the Uncle Fido shit”.
- “Uncle Fido shit” sounds like an extremely admiring description for the liner notes.
- You know what I mean. I told you. I know, even from the Animal Crossing album, that your fans pre…
- Our fans.
- OK, our fans, prefer the ambient… drones or whatever, but Uncle Fido is such a fantastic project.
- “Inspired by Uncle Fido” would sound like an album of covers, which it’s not. It’s original music, inspired by… Anyway, what do you like about Fido?
- So, inspired by Uncle Fido universe. By Uncle Fido poetics… Inspired by Uncle Fido magic. What do I like about it? First that comes to mind is its sound, you know. It’s thin and thick at the same time.
- Thin and thick. Noted.
- You know what I mean. It sounds warm, analog, and at the same time it’s… I don’t know how to describe it. I just love the sound. And then there’s the melodies…
- What about them?
- They’re, like, naive… almost borderline kitsch or, rather, really done by kids or something. But it’s sophisticated at the same time. Like those jazzmen in the 60’s providing soundtracks for cartoons for kids while winking at adults with some cool stuff in it, you know…
- Yeah, I do, actually, I love those old recordings, full of the sound of… was it called reverberation room?
- Yeah, the reverbed harpsichord stuff, and vibraphone, and the old electric organs…
- Hammond?
- Nah… Farfisa. Viscount. Delicia. The derivative ones in a way, copycats with their own timbre so to speak. It gives the recording that special kind of nostalgia. The whole sound of them.
- OK, tell you what. I’ll write down everything I remember you telling me now in the release notes, would that be OK for you?
- Absolutely, man. If I don’t have to write it myself, cool with me.
- Fine. Anything you wanna add?
- I don’t know… Don’t do drugs? No, seriously, just… "People, listen to Uncle Fido, it has more levels than you’d think at first. And listen to Hopkirk’s remake of it, Spacetudes My Way. I swear Uncle Fido is the best sh... stuff for relaxing, meditating, focusing, working, studying..."
- Spacetudes My Way is not a remake of Uncle Fido, it’s an album of beats made from Spacetudes, a Binaural Space album.
- Oh... Well, good for me. I felt uneasy about being the second one to cover the old Uncle. This makes me feel better about it.
- Man, I’m happy this shocking discovery has made you feel better, but there actually IS a Hopkirk's Uncle–Fido–turned–beats album, too, it's called Tipentap & Chill. Anyway, I have some release notes to write, so, yeah.
- Yeah, I knew there was one. I meant Tipentap & Chill, of course. Man, take care, and sorry once again.
- No problem man, and try to be online at least during the pre-release, release and post-release period, OK?
- Yes, my Captain, oh my Captain, I'll be online like the Tesla guy. Good Mood to every family!
- Good Mood Loop to every household! Take care.

about

Binaural Space

Ambient traditionalists say to Binaural Space what the Emperor said to Mozart: “Too many notes.” In both cases, the rest of the world tends to disagree.
