Today it's the 3rd anniversary of Binaural Space. Not the label – the person behind it.

My new music identity as Binaural Space began on May 28, 2018. I bought the (way too expensive tbh) binaural.space domain, created the @binauralspace twitter account and tweeted: "Working on something BIG." :-)

My first tracks and albums came months later but that day was the day I changed my mindset. Until then I was a burned-out perfectionist, not even listening to music for a couple of years. Since that day I've embraced the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi (although I didn't know that term back then), discovered dozens of fantastic indie artists and composed 10 albums (plus two EP's as Uncle Fido) and counting.

I don't remember exactly what led me to that decision but I know it was a synergy of several ideas, events and influences, plus my discovery of Bandcamp and artists releasing their music there. I knew the site before but I wrongly considered it to be one of the distros for Spotify and other Deezers. What I didn't expect was how much this web page would change my life.

Before setting up my Bandcamp profile I had no fans. I had friends who liked my music but changing friends to true fans is much harder than the other way round. Since then I've found fans – and kick-ass musicians – who have become my friends. I can't express how deeply grateful and happy I am that there are people I've never even met in person who care about my music so much that they purchase it for their hard-earned money, often paying more than they could have.

I'm not sure what the reason for me making music for my whole life has been – I just have to – but I'm sure that you, my friends, are the reason why I make more of it. Having someone who cares, who listens and says wonderful things about your art (on any level) is beyond fantastic. It's the biggest motivator and a huge joy. If the very you who's reading these words now is one of such fans of mine, thank you very, very much, I appreciate your support tremendously and I'm eternally grateful to you.

This track of mine is not just my gift to you all but also my attempt to depict my creative process and its impact on me. Having two small sons, one of them with serious issues, and taking care of them has been quite a challenge. Music helps me stay sane and keep on starting again and again every single day.

Sometimes closing myself in my little room – let's call it the Studio because that's what I call it – and trying to escape everything feels like attempting to reach the state of nirvana in the middle of a playground full of noisy kids. Because, trust me, two boys are about fifty times more demanding than just one – and when we have my nephew as a guest, I feel it rises exponentially. Hence the name of the track. But you can replace “playground” with anything that fits you, from stress through anxiety to battlefield – your stories about how my music has been helping you deal with depression, sleeping disorders or PTSD are the ultimate appraisal.

These are damn long liner notes for a single track so I won't keep bothering the three of you who have read it in its entirety any longer. I thank you for the three unbelievable, wonderful and meaningful years, promise you have SO MUCH to look forward to and I can't wait to share my new creations with you in the upcoming months – and years ahead, hopefully.
