Cat Temper
Smooth grooves and head-bobbing arrangements lay the groundwork for an imaginative space adventure. A story thought up and voiced with literal childhood exuberance. So fun!
Today marks the first anniversary of Hopkirk’s fantastic album Kids Discover the Cosmos, and because it is the International Children’s Day today, we've decided to grant your wishes and to make your dreams come true:
Kids Discover the Cosmos, the album by Hopkirk released on the International Children’s Day 2022, finally on tape!
It is the first time Hopkirk’s music gets released on a physical media and we’re celebrating this super-special occasion by making it a very special Collectors Edition cassette:
C23 Hopeful Pink Cassette with Metallic Blue handwriting in an all-clear case and with inverted artwork – the whole package symbolizes hope, youthfulness, and also the first, oldest color on Earth as discovered by scientists: bright pink.
This tape is strictly limited to 10 copies and it is a true Collectors Edition because no other pink/inverted editions of the album will be made, ever.
Each copy was real-time recorded directly from the analog master played on a fabled Marantz deck to a warm and beloved old Nakamichi deck. Every single copy is unique and has desired little artefacts like warble, flutter or wow, making your cassette a hearty lo-fi original.
Sent as a registered shipment with a tracking number as always.
When I heard Hopkirk's "Kids Discover the Cosmos" for the first time, I was utterly, hopelessly and forever in love.
I had adored every single one of his wonderful previous releases: the multiple-genre-bestselling debut album Retro Bar 2099, the fun & jazzy Christmas EP Jazzmas, the retro-futuristic gem Magical Mystery Trip and, later, master Hopkirk's nostalgic disco collab with Nostalgin called Future Funk Fellows.
But Kids Discover the Cosmos... how can one describe a total enchantment by something naively playful, childishly ingenuous and yet cheekily clever? This album is beautiful, emotional, unforgettable. Chicken soup for the space explorer's soul. One of the records you have to play once more immediately after listening to it as a whole. And then to immerse in its top-class storytelling once again. And again.
Officially, it is an album dedicated to children. But I feel it is a gift to all people who remember how it was to be a child as well as to those who forgot it and desperately need to remember (even if they don't know they do). Its music, its story, its spell is about one of the greatest wonders there is: children wondering about the universe.
Every single human being capable of emotions must feel things when listening to Kids Discover the Cosmos because its sonic universe as well as storytelling is cute, charming and absorbing. But for me personally it is an even more special album and it will be forever: It is the first album for which my own son's drawing has been used as the album art. And not incidentally: he drew the picture with the very purpose of providing the "cover" of this album and I have the drawing and the cute little "letter" he added saved deeply in my heart.
Hopkirk is one of our kids' fav artists (together with Flying Bohemian, Janelle Monáe or Uncle Fido if you were wondering) so you can imagine how big a deal this will be for the little painter when I'll show this to him today, on the International Children's Day.
Hopkirk and "Binaural Space Jr." won't be just the artist and his small fan but actually partners in crime, album mates, a creative duo from now on – and who knows, maybe this is not their last collab and perhaps there's a long line of album artwork designs made by the little rookie for other artists in the future, who knows...
Do yourselves a favour and listen to this little miracle of an album from beginning to end. This is really important: do not "taste" parts of it. Play the whole story as it's supposed to be listened to. If you haven't lost the natural ability of kids to feel things, to wonder and to get fascinated, I guarantee you'll be entertained, touched, delighted... And grateful, because I feel we have needed such an extraordinary album for a while.
Thank you for your ongoing support, we appreciate it very much and wish the child in you and to all the past, current and future kids in your lives an International Children's Day full of hope, joy, safety... and love.

Ambient traditionalists say to Binaural Space what the Emperor said to Mozart: “Too many notes.” In both cases, the rest of the world tends to disagree.
Great album that doesn't take itself too seriously but stands the test of multiple listens anyway (just yesterday I enjoyed a 2-hour drive accompanied only with the 4 pre-released tracks tremendously) Binaural Space
Fun, multi-genre album full with motley ideas in the best sense of the word, with that typical melodic and harmonic magic only ACY can provide. Currently my fav ACY album – and that's something! Binaural Space
Powerful and yet intimate, deep and yet full of light, haunting but optimistic. This EP has a special atmosphere thanks to the brilliantly selected timbres and sounds... and the vocal. Great name, too Binaural Space

Once again, Alpha pushes the boundaries between synthwave and ambient soundscapes, creating a world full of silky smooth beauty!
Relaxing, positive and undeniably cool, if this is your introduction to ACY then dive head first into a stress free paradise and immerse yourself in an artist who's at the very top of his game. stuthedj
